This year we are supporting our local Keremeos/Similkameen Starfish Pack. They provide students at Cawston Elementary School and Similkameen Secondary School with nutritious, easy to cook foods to take home on the weekends to combine with other ingredients that families may already have.

The remainder of the funds over $10000 will be split between the latter 2 charities.
About Us
Hello, our names are Dennis & Kim Grassick (AKA: Big Daddy & Big Block Betty).
As the organizers and hosts of Big Daddy's Charity Car Show, we're thrilled to support three incredible causes: the Make-A-Wish Foundation B.C./Yukon, SOWINS (South Okanagan Women In Need), and the Similkameen Starfish Pac. (Keremeos/Cawston).

Our journey in fundraising began years ago with small car shows on our street in Maple Ridge. Combining our passion for vintage culture, cars, and pin-up, we found a way to support charities close to our hearts. Our inaugural event was dedicated to the Susan B Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in honour of my mother Shirley's journey. Since then, we've expanded to organizing events like Maple Ridge Senior Secondary School's Dry Grad, raising funds for the graduating class of 2011.

With each event, our family finds joy in giving back to the community while enjoying cherished moments together. These gatherings serve as reunions for friends and family, all while making a positive impact on local causes. We're grateful for the continued support and look forward to many more successful fundraisers ahead.

Our journey began with intimate, invite-only events at our Maple Ridge home, continuing now in Cawston, where we reside. Over time, these gatherings have evolved into semi-annual shows, with our upcoming event marking our 9th show. Throughout this journey, we've forged deep connections, fostering friendships that have transformed into what we now proudly call family.

In addition to the Make-A-Wish Foundation B.C./Yukon, SOWINS, and Similkameen Starfish Pac., we've extended our support to other worthy causes. These include the ALS Foundation, in honor of our friend Dave's battle with ALS, Ovarian Cancer Canada in memory of the late Elly May Day, Heart & Stroke in remembrance of Dennis' father Terry, and the Keremeos/Cawston Food Bank.

Our shows have been described as unique experiences, far from your average car show. They're characterized by action-packed excitement, personalized touches, and an intimate atmosphere. We strive to create an environment where guests transition from being attendees to becoming cherished members of our extended family.

This year marks a significant milestone as we open our doors to the public for the first time. Collaborating with the Keremeos Rodeo Association, who generously provide the venue and grounds for our show, allows us to expand our reach while supporting a vital community organization. We're honored to partner with the Rodeo Association, contributing to their revenue and promoting their venue for future events. Their unwavering community support is a testament to their significance, and we're privileged to have them onboard.

The success of our show over the years owes much to the unwavering support and generosity of our community, friends, family, and neighbouring businesses. Your contributions in the form of gifts, monetary donations, merchandise, sponsorship's, and food & beverages have been instrumental in making each event a resounding success, drawing in large crowds and raising significant funds for our chosen causes.

We are deeply grateful for the countless individuals and businesses who have rallied behind us, offering their support without hesitation. Their donations have all been provided pro-bono, allowing us to maximize the proceeds directed towards our charitable endeavours.

A special acknowledgement is due to the Wheelbarrow Foundation and local businesses like Dutchies Transfer LTD, whose substantial contributions and matching donations have further bolstered our fundraising efforts. Their ongoing support is a testament to the spirit of generosity and community collaboration that defines our endeavours. We feel immensely blessed to be surrounded by such incredible support, enabling us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.

To date, our show has raised over $62,000 for various charities, with our primary goal being to grant a wish each year, typically totaling $10,000, and distribute any additional funds equally among the other two charities. In our last show in 2021, held at the Keremeos Rodeo grounds and attended solely by friends and family, we achieved our best fundraising year to date, raising an impressive $22,200 on the Saturday alone.
However, we're poised to surpass that milestone this year with your participation and support!

This year's event kicks off on Friday evening with a Drive-In Movie organized by the Roadmen CC, exclusively for our registered weekend attendees. On Saturday, the car show opens to the public from 10 AM to 4 PM, followed by raffles and awards from 4 PM to 5:30 PM. Sunday will feature a Pancake Breakfast and Booze Cruise & Poker Run for our registered weekend attendees.

We are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to meet all of you and look forward to seeing you there!

Warm regards,

Big Daddy & Big Block Betty
